How Grease Traps Work
Grease Traps are tanks placed in line with the restaurant waste water and the city sewer line. These tanks are designed with the purpose of collecting and holding waste solids and oils from entering the city sewers. The overall purpose is to prevent and eliminate sewer backups in your facility
Why Backups Occur
Because the grease trap collects solids and waste oil before your waste water enters the city sewer, over time the tank must be drained and cleaned from all of its collected material. Not having the tank cleaned will cause an over flow of collected material. This causes back-ups and possible city fines. This can be prevented with a service routine.
Preventing Grease Trap Back Ups
Having the tank cleaned on a routine basis will prevent grease trap backups. It is also necessary to “jet” the waste water line leading from the grease tank into your establishment about twice a year. Please call for a service evaluation to set up a service schedule.
